NEEDS ASSESSMENT

The purpose of the planned improvements to the Minneola Collector Road PD&E study area is to accommodate the expected increase in traffic due to population and employment growth along the corridor and within the project area. The City of Minneola also wishes to define the best alignment for this roadway so to define the roadway network in this area.

The Minneola Collector Road will serve as an alternative route to bypass the US 27 and State Road 50 (SR 50) intersection that is highly congested in its current state. This project will consider future traffic projections to plan for a roadway that will benefit the community. This route is also considered as

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The PD&E study is considering improvements necessary to create an extension of North Hancock Road and to begin planning for the future as the developments in the area continue to move forward.

The City of Minneola, utilizing Lake County Impact Fee funds, contracted with HNTB Corporation to complete this PD&E Study. The Study Team collected various sources of existing data including roadway conditions, social and biological environmental data and regional implications.

The City of Minneola is aware of the large amount of growth occurring in Lake County. The Council determined that it was important to address this growth and its affect on the roadway network through Minneola. This project will strive to determine the best alternative to address the growth while working with the various developers to determine how a roadway such as this fits within their approved plans.
